Install PeppolKit in WooCommerce
Here is how to set up the PeppolKit plugin in WooCommerce, from uploading the zip to your first automatic invoice. You don't need a separate sign-up: the account is created from within WordPress.
What you need
- WordPress 6.4 or newer, WooCommerce 8.0 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer. The plugin works with the classic checkout, the block checkout and HPOS.
- A business established in the Netherlands or Belgium. Your customers can be anywhere.
- Your VAT number and your KvK or enterprise number.
Install and connect
- Install the plugin. In WordPress go to Plugins → Add New and search for Kadeworks EU Invoices. Click Install Now. The plugin is in the WordPress plugin directory; if you can't find it, download the zip and upload it via Upload Plugin.
- Activate. Click Activate. WooCommerce must be active, otherwise the plugin says: "PeppolKit needs WooCommerce."
- Connect your shop. Open PeppolKit → Overview, check your e-mail address (your WordPress admin address is filled in already) and click Connect to PeppolKit. This creates a free PeppolKit account automatically, without payment details. You see: "Connected to PeppolKit. Now fill in your company details."
- Fill in your company details under PeppolKit → Settings: company name, street and number, postcode, city, country (Netherlands or Belgium), VAT number and KvK or enterprise number. That number is also your Peppol address. Reply-to e-mail, IBAN and invoice number prefix are optional.
- Choose your options. Tick what applies to you: E-mail the invoice to the customer, Send invoices to business customers over Peppol, Registered for the EU One-Stop Shop (OSS) and Below €10,000 EU distance-sales threshold. Pick the Invoice language and click Save. You see: "Saved. Paid orders now get an invoice automatically."
The VAT field at checkout
The plugin adds an optional VAT number (businesses) field to the classic checkout and to the block checkout (the latter from WooCommerce 8.9). There is nothing to configure. PeppolKit checks the number live in VIES. If your customer is in a different EU country than your shop and the number is valid, WooCommerce charges 0% VAT right away and the invoice shows reverse charge. A customer in your own country pays VAT as usual. Without a number, a business is invoiced as a consumer. More in reverse charge for Belgian businesses.
Activate Peppol
On the free plan you send over Peppol with your own free Peppyrus account, which you connect in the PeppolKit dashboard: see create a Peppyrus account. On a paid plan it can also go through PeppolKit itself: click Activate Peppol / confirm identity under PeppolKit → Settings. An authorised person at your company then confirms the company's identity once, on a secure page of our Peppol partner Recommand. As long as Peppol isn't active, invoices to business customers simply go by e-mail.
Earlier orders
On PeppolKit → Overview, the button Create invoices for paid orders of the last 60 days handles up to 250 orders at a time. They follow the same route as new orders: if e-mailing is on, your customers receive their invoice by e-mail. If you don't want that, turn e-mailing off first.
Your first test
- Set an order to Processing or Completed.
- Give it a moment: the invoice is created in the background and is usually ready within a minute.
- Open the order. The PeppolKit box shows the invoice number, links to the PDF and UBL, the e-mail status and, for a business customer, the Peppol status.
Note that a test order is a real invoice. It gets a number from the continuous series and counts towards your 10 free invoices a month. To see only the layout, click Sample invoice: the dashboard opens at your settings, where the Invoices tab has examples for a consumer and a Belgian business.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to create a separate PeppolKit account?
No. Connecting your shop under PeppolKit in the WordPress menu creates a free PeppolKit account automatically. You choose a paid plan later in the PeppolKit dashboard, not through WordPress.
Is the plugin in the WordPress plugin directory?
Yes, since 7 November 2026, as Kadeworks EU Invoices with Peppol for WooCommerce. Updates simply come through WordPress.
When is the invoice created?
As soon as an order gets the status processing or completed. The invoice is created in the background so checkout is not slowed down, and it is usually ready within a minute.
Can PeppolKit run next to another invoice plugin?
Yes, but turn off the invoice e-mails of the other plugin, or your customer gets two invoices. PeppolKit uses its own continuous numbering.
What happens if I disconnect the plugin?
Disconnecting removes the API key from your shop, so new orders no longer get an invoice. Your invoices stay available in your PeppolKit dashboard for 30 days. Connect again within that time and everything is kept.
